Ogre Barbecue

This project was developed over 3 days in my spare time based on a concept by Vincent Gallut, whose social media can be found in the first image of the post.

My goal with this project was to closely mirror a highly stylized character sculpt and texture it in a way that was believable and realistic while keeping the original vision of the artist intact. I began the base model in Maya, and used that basic topology in Zbrush, where I did shape corrections and a high detail pass. The characters were posed in the Zpose editor, and everything was textured in Substance Painter with minor tweaks made in Photoshop.

The original concept was developed by Vincent Gallut, a fantastic character designer! You can find his Tumblr here: https://vincentgallut.tumblr.com/

This short video shows the look development process on the body, highlighted by renders I created at the end of every work session.
